As President of MAPS, I want to personally extend a warm welcome to you to our electronic home. We are delighted that you are here and hope you will find our website to be friendly and informative. Surf around and review our monthly newsletter. Please feel free to contact me or any member of the Executive Committee to answer any questions you may have. Call or email anyone of us with your questions, when you need help or guidance. Better still, please feel free to attend our functions and see for yourself why MAPS is the location for the speaking professionals. Let us know how we can serve you. We look forward to getting to know you, to learning about your goals and to helping you to achieve them.

Becoming MAPS President is a privilege and a responsibility. I will execute this responsibility with my utmost motivation and commitment in order to earn this rare privilege.

Under the capable leadership of our Past President Mr. P. M. Low MAPS has had in the last two years, some of the most outstanding events from the National Speakers Convention (NSC) 2005, NSC 2006 and the monthly MAPS at Work programs. We are in good shape.

My motivation is to stay the course, maintain the momentum and enhance the greatness of MAPS. Our main goals will be:

  1. to grow our membership with like-minded professionals who can add their thinking and stimulate our own growth. The cumulative expertise of members with a common mission and vision is the driving force of an association,
  2. to ensure our member benefits increase by a vigorous presence on the Internet,
  3. to ally MAPS with its members by promoting the members learning and expertise through its web site,
  4. to hold a grand NSC 2007,
  5. to successfully organize the monthly MAPS at Work, and
  6. to increase the financial health.

I invite you to attend our functions. If you currently speak for a living, you owe it to yourself and your potential audiences to join MAPS. If you are starting out on your speaking career, there is no better place to be than MAPS. T he community that MAPS provides will make you feel right at home and will offer by far the best professional support you will ever find.

MAPS has identified competencies needed for success by experts who speak. Our schedule of events is designed to bring national and international experts to share their expertise about these competencies. The competencies include: eloquence, expertise, enterprise and ethics .

It has been gratifying to have so many members offer their time and talents to serve MAPS this year. While key leadership positions are filled one to two years in advance, it is never too late to contribute to the success of MAPS. Here are some ideas of what you can do:

Get involved. No matter how good MAPS has become, there is always room for improvement. Tell us what you might be able to do a one-time contribution or an ongoing one, to help MAPS achieve its goals. Your ideas and feedback are important.
When you meet people who speak professionally, tell them about MAPS. It's about helping those who speak professionally become more effective at what they do.

I take this opportunity to thank all those who have in one way or the other contributed to MAPS progress. I look forward to receiving your valuable suggestions and participation.

All the best. Have a wonderful life
